Endangered Cork?
Endangered Cork??? We get this question a lot. There seems to be a lot of misinformation about cork being an endangered species of tree. This is very untrue! The truth is there is more cork today than there has ever been. The main reason for that is that more people are using cork! Cork has a unique situation in or economy. The value of the cork as a farming product preserves the forests and the ecosystems that they create. The harvesting techniques for cork are some of the most sustainable in the world. In some parts of the world the harvesting of the cork is necessary for the continued viability of the ecosystems in which they are harvested. Without the econmomic viability of the cork, the forests are cut down to make room for more profitable crops.
